REVIEW:
The eighth book by Chris to feature lead character Robert Hunter and each offering really takes the reader from the opening page into an almost cinematic story as each page turns. As with his other books the writing is crisp, the prose sharp but above all else its his characters that really bring the whole world to life.
Add to this solid dialogue, a cracking overall arc that adds more to Hunters mythos and all round it was a very satisfying read. Just be aware that some of the subject matter can be unsettling especially if you hear a phone ring at the wrong time. Cracking.

The seventh Chris Carter novel to feature LA Special Unit’s Ultra Violent squad Detective Robert Hunter as the principle player in this first standalone outing. As with Chris’ other work he blends delightfully hardcore action with top notch prose, some wonderful twists as well as bringing the reader not only into the mind of the detective but also the killer as we seek to see how events will unfurl.
It has some great dialogue, backed up with some cracking sleight of hand and all round generates something that was a pure joy to read and more than a little satisfying as the last page turns. All in this is a great book and one that I was more than delighted to have spent a deliciously dark night with. Cracking.

I love the dark side of criminal psychology and whilst I recently read a book by a debut author I really was looking forward to this book by Chris Carter as he manages to send a solid chill up my spine whilst giving me my required feed of blood, imagination and of course a criminal that will test his detective to the max.
It has great pace, some cracking prose but for me it’s the characters that really help to drive this title forward as they’re not only multi-faceted but require each other to help bolster the others weaknesses. It works a treat all round and for me if you want a serious chill in the dead of night to leave you worried about turning that light off, you really have to give this author a go
