Keri returns with a new series and one that will keep you gripped from start to finish as our heroine, Risa Jones, must get to the bottom of a case where someone is ripping the souls from bodies not yet ready to pass. It’s inventive, it has great characters and it’s the story that will keep you glued from start to finish. Add to this solid prose, some magical twists alongside a great overall arc that will lead to multiple options and it’s a story that you really have to read as soon as you can. Book two will be available pretty soon after (about a couple of months after this one’s original release) so if you want to try Keri and see what the word is all about, this is perhaps the series for you. Great stuff.

REVIEW:
Mercy Burns is the second outing in the Myth and Magic series that started with Destiny Kills. Whilst I haven’t read the original title in the series, I didn’t feel that I was alienated in any way and was able to connect with the tales principle heroine within the first few pages and whilst parts of this title may come across as a story of vengeance it’s a title about salvation as well as allowing characters to grow out of adversity and prejudices. It’s wonderfully written, it has great pace and with brings to the table a wonderful blend of paranormal romance alongside a good old fashioned crime novel. All in, this title is a satisfactory read and one that will have readers going through the emotional wringer along with the lead character as well as feeling rewarded by the titles conclusion in all its glory.

REVIEW:
If we’re going for honesty here I haven’t read Keri’s work before but I was intrigued by the cover blurb. What transpired between the pages was what happens when a character really doesn’t want to get involved. Yes she had some supernatural ability but she isn’t a combat machine like so many of the Heroes/Heroines within the majority of Urban Fantasy novels. Its smarts that get her places and along with the characters insecurities its something that really will appeal to the reader as you can’t help but like Maddie. The tale is well written and with enough plot to keep you fascinated as well as twisting its way towards it conclusion. It’s a tale that has made me take notice of Keri and if the other novels in the series are half as good as this, I’ll become a firm fan of her work.
