Lee Child is a guilty pleasure of mine and with this being the 19th novel in his Jack Reacher series, you know that he has to have something special to his work to keep the readers glued for such a long time. As with the other stories, Jack is in his element as events unfurl on a world scale with him chasing a would be assassin through the streets of London as the French President appears at the G8 Summit.
All round the prose is sharp, the pace wonderfully fast and when added to a cracking overall arc, the reader is treated to not only a high octane story but one that is nigh impossible to put down. I love the way that it unfurls and the way that Lee keeps you glued throughout.
All round a cracking new instalment and one the is definitely friendly for all fans of cracking high paced stories. Magical.

Well my Grandad is a huge fan of Reacher so this book has been on my radar for quite some time, especially when you get to sit back and enjoy the rules that have helped shape the character through his myriad of adventures. It’s fun, it has a lot of useful tips and if you’re a fan of the hard man image it’s something that will hit the spot.
Throw into the equation a forward by Lee Child, some quirky additions like Man Toy’s and all round it is something that is going to give a lot of fun to the recipient.

As a huge fan of Jack Reacher (thanks to my Grandad) I really couldn’t wait to get the latest title in the series as for me, Lee is an author who hits the spot when I want some high octane action adventure. What occurs within continues in the usual vein as Jack has to help an FBI agent solve a murder with the usual sass of Reacher which when blended with the characterisation within of the secondary characters helped blend the emotional aspect which also counteracted the explosiveness of Reacher in general.
Add to this the usual trademarks of the author with no nonsense prose where each word is calculated to give the maximum impact with solid pace and of course cracking dialogue which all in generates a story that really will hit the spot. Great stuff and in case Lee is reading this, I also bought my Grandfather a cracking bottle of Bruidladdich (Second Reserve) to enjoy alongside this title to make it even more memorable.

With 16 Jack Reacher books under his belt, Lee Child has at times alluded to backstory that the fans will not only want to know but demand, so it was with great joy that I managed to get an early copy of this book to enjoy. What unfurls within is a story taking us back to his early days when he first starts out in the life to which he is now famed. It’s cleverly written, fills in a lot of the details and gives the reader an adventure that gets back to the roots which allows the reader to see why he developed the way he did.
It’s cunning, it has some great twists and with a secondary character that tests him all the way it’s a story that gives you a more rounded opinion of the character. As with Lee’s usual writing, it’s fast paced, the action is crisp and bloody and when you add the authors penchant for twists as well as misdirection it’s one that’s hard to put down.

One of the mediums in the publishing industry that feels like its not used to its full potential is that of the compendium. With financial times being what they are, readers tend to stick to what they know spending their hard earned cash on established as well as firm favourites over someone that they might have heard good things about.
Here in the compendium is the readers chance to try some top talent in the mystery genre. Whilst each story has been handpicked as well as published before they are brought together here for the first time and released in the UK by Corvus. It’s got some gems, it has a lot of serious talent and above all else the reader has got some serious reading time ahead of them. Add to the mix that it’s all short stories and the reader can quite easily delve into these on those boring trips to work or even in a lunch hour. Great stuff and above all else is a title that I’m giving a thumbs up to for UK readers. Get to know what is selling well in the US and see why these authors are names that have staked their place in the genre.

Child is back with an explosive offering that will more than satisfy the many Reacher fans out there which picks up from where 61 hours left off. It’s got a key set up and one that when the touch paper is lit really is on a fast track to destruction for which the reader will have to hold onto. It’s beautifully constructed, it’s got great additional characters and Reacher is the type of hero that every reader wishes they could be at some point in their lives. A real gem of a title and one that clearly demonstrates why Lee is top of his game. Finally, each title in this series can be read as a standalone (except for this and 61 hours which have to be read together), but why waste the pleasure that each book can bring you. Start from the beginning and enjoy the Roller-Coaster series from start to finish. You won’t regret it.

REVIEW:
With a grandfather who is addicted to Lee Child’s writing, this offering has been one that had to be read pretty quickly to prevent what some would term as reacquisition to the relevant authority. What unfurls within is a reasonable offering from Lee and one that will definitely entertain his fans the world over. However unlike the other tales in the series it leaves the reader on tenderhooks and a long wait for the next offering. Whilst this isn’t his best Jack Reacher tale it is certainly not his worst and makes this not only ideal holiday reading material but an adventure to sink your teeth into.
