REVIEW:
I grew up with Terry’s Discworld book, looking forward every year for a new one and enjoying each one multiple times as I loved the humour, his wacky world as well as the way the characters came across. So when I heard about a graphic novel I wasn’t sure if it would translate quite as well. After all in order to get a story across in graphic novel format, they have to be heavily edited with some of the minor lines removed in order to make it accessible.
What this title from Doubleday does is pair the humour of Terry’s work with the enthusiastic artwork of Ray Friesen. It’s a great combo as the brightness and flow beautifully compliment both styles. Back this up with cracking storytelling and of course the “small gods” all round makes this a great addition to any Pratchett collection. Cracking.

REVIEW:
I’d been looking forward to this since I heard about it a few months ago, yet whilst I was excited, I did wonder how they could bring two major kickass killers to a 12 market without compromising on what fans will be demanding. What the tale brought across was something that was sadly lacking. The story was pretty sketchy, Black Widow was overly emotional and when you add the Punishers no nonsense attitude, it left me feeling that she was more a damsel in need of rescue and emotionally unable to cope with the situation.
It felt wrong, it didn’t have the strengths that I was coming to expect from this and to be totally brutal BW was little more than a tease with her sly comments who would fall apart as parts of the story were uncovered. All in, it just didn’t work and to be honest its not one I’ll be re-watching in the future.

Well, whilst its still a while to World Book Night (April 2013) we thought that we'd bring the news that may help be the salvation to not only Mega City One but to homes where reluctant readers live.
Our friends at Rebellion have heard that The Dark Judges is to be the first Graphic novel for World Book Night. “As one of the most iconic British brands in publishing we are absolutely delighted to be a part of World Book Night ,” said 2000 AD and Rebellion Publishing manager Ben Smith. “Not only is The Dark Judges a classic Judge Dredd story, but the role that comics can play in encouraging reading and boosting literacy is well known.
