FANTASY REVIEW: Call to Arms - Mitchel Scanlon

BOOK BLURB:

Dieter Lanz is a young recruit to the 3rd Hochland Swordsmen, otherwise known as 'the Scarlets'. His regiment is called into battle when an orc army starts to rampage across the countryside, and when the Scarlets are defeated, Hochland is threatened with collapse. As a desperation measure, legendary general Ludwig Von Grahl is brought out of retirement - he is the last hope to stem the vicious green tide.

REVIEW:

Part of the Empire Army series and perhaps my favourite as the tale is told from the point of view of the common enlisted man. As you’ve probably come to expect by now, the world is vivid and violent with Mitchel doing his damnedest to make sure that the reader is right in the heart of things. Within this offering the Scarlet's fight for survival against the Greenskin’s invading army, taking the reader back perceptibly to the days of Sigmar as each man must stand together or their world will fall. Ideal material with great pace and tension within as the survivability of not only the army but each man is constantly in doubt. A must own for any fan of the Warhammer world and definitely an offering that will hit my top ten novels released this year as Sharpe meets Warhammer in this no hold barred sequence.
