NEWS: Ankh Morpork in Britain
The weird and wonderful has a way of happening in Britain, and none more so than at the Kingwell Rise estate in Wincanton which now sports two wonderful names, that of Peach Pie Street and Treacle Mine Road.
Named after the streets of Ankh Morpork, with which Wincanton was twinned in 2002, Terry Pratchett was there on Sunday to proudly unveil the new street signs. Developer George Wimpey said "I think it's a lovely idea, even though it makes my head spin to think of the books becoming a little closer to reality."
With Councillor Colin Winder, a former Mayor of Wincanton, saying "The association with Discworld works extremely well for our town, helping to boost the local economy.
