There's a new war to fight now, a war for mankind's very survival. But while the last human stronghold on Sera braces itself for another onslaught from the Locust Horde, ghosts come back to haunt Marcus and Dom, as the return of an old comrade threatens to dredge up an agonizing secret Marcus has sworn to keep. REVIEW:

Karen has always been a bit of a controversial author for a number of readers, some swear by her, others dislike her writing, she is definitely one of those authors you either love or hate. Here in her latest offering she tackles the book of the phenomenally successful game Gears of War in a prequel that many fans have longed for.

Following the apocalyptic world Travis generates a believable background and characterisation for the protagonists within this tale. Well written, creatively embellished this really does add more levels to expand the world and allow a greater freedom for not only the author but allows those with no understanding of this apocalyptic society to dip in and head straight for the throat. If you’ve yet to try Travis this is perhaps her best novel to date, crackingly good fun.
