STEAMPUNK REVIEW: Spiritwalker 2: Cold Fire - Kate Elliott

Release Date: 15/09/11

SYNOPSIS:

Cat and her cousin are key players in a drama of dragons and politics. Everyone wants something from them - including the warlord who's conquering all Europa and the Cold Mages who dare defy him. But the Master of the Wild Hunt is most dangerous of all. He will command Cat's loyalty using what she holds most dear. In a world where science and magic are at war, one girl must save those she loves, or lose everything.

REVIEW:

The second book in the Spiritwalker series where Steampunk and magic blend to create something pretty unique. Add to this the author’s usual authoritative writing voice, a cracking love story and wrap it all up in politics, machinations alongside double dealing and the result is a very tired but sated reader after a marathon nigh time session.

Finally throw into it all great pace, identifiable prose as well as a good sense of timing with nods of the hat to western mythology and the result is something that makes this for me Kate’s best series to date. Great stuff.

Added to my list. This one looks very interesting and your review makes it easier to buy knowing someone has read it and enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing Gareth. :)
