I love a good story that brings Urban Fantasy into the world of the secret agent and this series by Christopher Farnsworth is one that has been a real guilty pleasure, after all when things go bump in the night, the US President fight’s fire with fire with his own Vampire bewitched by Voodoo Priestess Laveau for eternal service.
It has some cracking characters and each time he’s called into action the enemy has foes to call in on their side that means that this is no easy walk in the park. Back this up with great prose, a pace that doesn’t let up from the beginning and keeps you hooked to the last page and you know damn well that I’m a happy reader. Cracking.

REVIEW:
Having read the first book in the series last year I was curious to see what Christopher would come up with next. After all with Frankenstein Monsters attacking the White House, it was going to have to be something spectacular to match up to the high octane thrill of the original.
So when I started this title I wondered how the characters would have progressed, after all it was a new relationship for the two lead characters and when you add in that its set a year later, you know that it had to have evolved further as a vampires work is never done.
As with the original it was fast paced, the characters fun and when you add “Lizard Men” to the equation it was a title that was a joy to behold. Also throw into the mix the shadowy organisation in the background trying to thwart out heroes and it was a book that really didn’t let up from the first to the last page. Great fun all in.

REVIEW:
Vamps have wormed their way into all levels of society within the genre, so its always going to be interesting when they work their way up to the secret agent level. It has been done successfully by author’s such as Jennifer Rardin but if you want something a little more different, more of a spy thriller in the (pardon the pun) vein of Bourne, then this is perhaps the title for you. It’s got some great twists, its got some great characters and above all else its got some great witty one liners. Back that up with a whole host of characters that the reader will just love to hang out with, some pretty great descriptive analogies and finish it up with a touch of Hellboy and you know that its something a bit special.
