VIDEO GAME REVIEW: Injustice 2 - Warner Brothers Interactive

SYNOPSIS:

Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice : Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman's regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth's existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favourites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.


REVIEW:

OK, I'm going to be honest here, the main fighting games that I've picked up before were Tekken and whilst many would say that the war for the king of fighters is generlaly won by Mortal Kombat I love a game that gives me not only fun but the chance to compete against not only my other half or the AI but with people the world over.

This title from Warner does not only bring all those elements together but brings it with a flair that I have to say was near perfect for me. The graphics are beautiful, each polygon making it look flawless with each character having multiple costumes and gear items that improve certain traits over others. Yes my review is behind quite a few others, but I'm not a guy to rush through things and wanted to give it a through play through (with multiple characters) in order to give it a fair review.

Add to this great sound with solid voice acting and accompanying music alongside a playable story arc all round gives you a title that was a pure joy to play. FInally add to this great end sequences for each of the characters and all round I was a more than happy gamer. Cracking.

REVIEW:

Having loved the previous books by Paul about the history of DC comics, I’ve been waiting to see what this third instalment would bring, as it tackles the comics that I remember from my childhood as well as character development for the modern audience. It’s wonderfully researched, packed full of top notch illustrations and all round is very informative as well as being an ultimate item for the graphic novel or comic aficionado within your own home.

All round, I can’t recommend this series enough and apart from making three very weighty tomes, they’ll be books that are looked at time and again just to gain some extra nuggets for use at the various conventions as well as to see how favourite DC heroes have changed over the years. Magic and a great gift for the Christmas period.

REVIEW:

OK, this review has taken me a while to get done. Not because I wanted to complete the game before doing so (although I have done) but mainly because, with it being the third and final outing (at the moment for Rock Steady games) felt that it was missing something that the other two titles had.

Don’t get me wrong, the game had great graphics, cracking combat sequences and you also got to use the batmobile (for the first time) but it seemed to lack something which for me translated as top notch storyline, relying more on repetitive combat alongside ruining the whole batmobile with overuse.

All round, whilst it was a solid game to play, I would have preferred is if the Arkham Knight had been more of a side line with our favourite bat villain taking centre stage again (although he couldn’t have previously died in the last title) all round really didn’t give me the goose-bumps and farewell I’d expected in a trilogy. It was more of a damp ending rather than a huge bang and all round sadly left me disappointed .

With E3 just a few days away we're all getting pretty excited but to keep you in the loop we've been asked to bring you the new trailers for Blood Bowl 2 and Batman: Arkham Knight.

After an introduction to the Chaos and Human teams in their gameplay videos, Blood Bowl 2, the sequel to the video game adaptation of Games Workshop’s famous board game that combines American football with the fantasy world of Warhammer, reveals its release date, two additional races, and a new video dedicated to its solo campaign!

We can now officially announce that Blood Bowl 2 will be releasing September 22 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game was delayed by a few weeks compared with its initial release planned this June, in order to ensure that players would enjoy the most polished foundations for the next generation Blood Bowl experience as possible. As a thank you for your support and patience, players will receive an extra Blood Bowl 2 race (including its own AI, design, skills, and their Star Players): the Lizardmen or the Wood Elves during pre-order campaign on consoles and PC. PC players who will pre-order the game on Steam will also be able to enjoy the multiplayer beta demo a few weeks before the release of the game.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today unveiled the new TV spot for Batman: Arkham Knight. The video features highlights from Rocksteady Studios’ much anticipated video game, set to the brand new track “Mercy” from Muse’s seventh studio album, Drones. According to Matt Bellamy, the record “explores the journey of a human: from abandonment and loss of hope, to indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to eventual defection from the oppressors." Reminiscent of The Dark Knight’s own journey, it will inspire fans to be the vengeance, be the night and be the Batman.

We're keeping up with all the current releases from Warner Brothers Interactive and there's quite a lot today, so here we go:
 
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will take more time in development, and the release dates for these versions are moving to November 18 in the Americas and November 21 in the UK. The street dates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One remain September 30 in the Americas and October 3 in the UK. PC and Steam versions are now slated for release in the Americas and Europe on September 30.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor delivers a dynamic game environment where the player orchestrates their personal plan of vengeance as they bend Mordor to their will. The game begins on the night of Sauron’s return to Mordor, as his Black Captains brutally execute the Rangers of the Black Gate. Players become Talion, a ranger who loses his family and everything he holds dear, only to be returned from death by a mysterious Spirit of vengeance. Based on the player’s actions with the in-game Nemesis System, every enemy encountered is distinct and can evolve to become a personal archenemy through the course of the game. As Talion’s personal vendetta unfolds, players uncover the mystery of the Spirit that compels him, discover the origin of the Rings of Power and confront the ultimate nemesis. 
 

Today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed a DLC Season Pass for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham – the first Season Pass for a LEGO videogame. 

The Season Pass will include 6 DLC packs each with a unique themed mission level with story and free play modes. Players will be able to unlock a total of over 40 characters, vehicles, achievements and more. The first three of the DLC packs will be available on 14th November and 3 more will be announced at a later date. The Season Pass will be available for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for a great price of £12.79. Each pack can be purchased separately at £2.55

VIDEO GAME NEWS: Batman Arkham Knight Announced by Rocksteady Games, DC and Warner Brothers Interactive

Hail Might Readers and Followers of the Calloused Thumbs,
Lets just say that with the current announcement in relation to the forthcoming Batman Arkham Knight from Rock Steady Games, DC and Warner Brothers Interactive.

For the look for this first trailer, we really can't wait to get our hands on it.  After all the villains seem to be banding together with Two Face and Harley Quinn each bringing thier own flavour to the trailer.

Add to this some cracking top notch action, beautiful graphics (that has left Lady Eleanor salavating) really leaves us gasping for more.  But why take our word for it, have a look yourself:

Finally add to this, if you preorder you'll also get to play Harley Quinn.  Wow, what a win.
Here however is a word of warning, its being released for PC's and next gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One).

LADY ELEANOR VIDEO GAME REVIEW: Batman: Arkham Origins - Warner Brothers Interactive

SYNOPSIS:

Batman: Arkham Origins features an expanded Gotham City and introduces an original prequel storyline set several years before the events of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, the first two critically acclaimed games of the franchise.

Taking place before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, the game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.


REVIEW:

OK, so those following me on FB know that I was bad and was throwing cardboard batarangs around the house a few weeks back to get ready for Batman: Arkham Origins, and to be honest I had a hell of a lot of fun doing that. So when the new title landed I couldn’t wait to get started. Grabbing my utility belt (OK so its an army belt with a canteen on it as well as pouches for snackages) I was ready to start the latest (or from Batmans Perspective First, outing.)

It definitely was something that really catches the gamers attention from the wonderfully huge landscape to sound that just bursts forth with each thing that you do. The story is rich, has some great twists all following what many would think of as a simple premise of Batman Vs Assassins. It’s definitely something that I had a lot of fun relearning the skills for, loved the wicked little twists with also a tip of the proverbial hat to the origin of Joker.

It was rich, full of DC magic and to be honest its huge (so huge I’m still playing with over 60 hours logged.) Add to this cracking voice acting, a revamp of the Bat Cave as well as the chance to fly around the city with your grapnel, all round made this a lot of fun to sit back with. Add to the mix a good solid learning curve, some puzzles that will take lateral thinking to solve as well as the chance to savour it on the build-up to your own celebrations and it’s a title that I really do recommend to others. Can’t wait to see what Gotham has in store for me next. Great stuff.



Lady Eleanor is Falcata Times Mistress of Mayhem, be it in the Horror Genre or on the console, she gives it her all and loves to blow the hell out of anyone who gets in her way.  You can often find her perusing the game sites to get the latest gossip on what’s arriving next or checking out the latest movie/book releases to see what grabs her attention.

In addition to this Lady Eleanor is a lifelong fan of pin up and in particular the Fetish Queen of the 50’s Bettie Page and whilst the name is an alias, its due more to her love of a song by the same title by the group Lindisfarne rather than her dominating presence when she lays down the law.

Our friends at Warner Brothers Interactive and DC have let us know about a couple of things.  Firstly about the Origins Season Pass:

The Batman: Arkham Origins Season Pass (for PlayStation®3 system, Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, Wii U™ system or PC) will be available at launch for £15.99 (£27.99 value) and grants purchasers access to five of the game’s upcoming downloadable content packs, one of which includes two exclusive skins.

And Secondly about the exclusive KnightFall pack, we have to say it looks pretty sweet, although with the original costume (we're talking Adam West here) it looks a little unusual without a few Pow's and Thwacks here and there.  LOL  But have a look, this does look really cool, I would however perhaps have liked Steampunk Batman added.  Now that would have been mega:

Batman: Arkham Origins is out on the 25th October in all the usual formats.

VIDEO GAME NEWS: Lego Marvel Brick Building Gamescon Reveal & Batman: Arkham Origins Gamescon Trailer

Hail Mighty Readers and Followers of the Calloused Thumbs,
We love the Lego titles and lets just say that this new trailer from Marvel/Warner Brothers Interactive has brought all heros and villains to the fore (we had tons of fun seeing who could name them first.)  But looking at this trailer you can be damned sure that its going to be not only a hot trailer (thanks to the Human Torch) but also one that will more than grab the players attention.

Hopefully you'll be looking forward to this as much as we are, after all you've got Marvel, a whole host of heroes and of course lego, whats not to love about the whole thing?
