REVIEW:
I’ve been a fan of Ennis’ “The Boys” for quite some time, however whilst the artwork is still high quality this release feels a little flatter than the others. Don’t get me wrong we get to see a new Hughie who’s determined to stand up for himself and we get a whole load of backstory on the Unit’s operation however the whole thing just didn’t zing with the usual humour or get into the downright dirty style of fighting that we’re used to.
Add to this a thread that felt that it has been reused from an earlier title and as such the reader really could miss out on this title without missing much on the plotline overall. I just hope that the next release picks up the pace as otherwise I’ll be feeling very disappointed that such a great series went down so quickly.

REVIEW:
The Boys, Ennis Anti-Superhero squad return in this, the seventh (ironically) compendium as the tale hots up and Wee Huey has to face some hard choices. Beautifully written with the typical Ennis sense of humour the reader gets to see the caring side of the characters as well as gets to see the fall out as the truth finally unveils itself.
Add to this the wonderful artwork of Darrick Robertson who really brings the characters to life and you know that its something special, the only complaint that I have is the huge wait in-between to get each instalment. A real gem of a title for the adult audience and whilst some may thing that Graphic novels should remain in the realm of the Young Adult, this clearly demonstrates that they shouldn’t have all the fun.
BOOK BLURB:
It had to happen sooner or later: the supes get mad enough to go after the Boys. One of the world's most powerful superteams decides to hit our heroes, all guns blazing, and the Female is the first to fall into their lethal trap. Pulping teenage supes is one thing, but how will our heroes fair against a front-rank supe team of unimaginable power? Blood flies and bones shatter, as Butcher decides to meet fire with fire...
REVIEW:
If there’s one thing guaranteed to brighten my day, its getting to spend time with “The Boys.” Garth Ennis has a real touch of humour, his characters are people you just tend to love and to be honest, it’s a great idea to have a team of people set up to kick the hell out of the superheroes for when they step out of line. Of course this earns them enemies, of course its got Ennis’ warped humour and of course you’re guaranteed top art as Robertson’s involved. This is the Superhero Graphic novel series for adults. I love it, my twin loves it and my Dad loves it (as I’ve just discovered that the latest offering has been “borrowed” proves.) Great stuff and definitely something to make any readers day no matter how bad the previous events have gone so far.
