CRIME THRILLER REVIEW: Tennison - Lynda La Plante

Release Date: 24/09/15
Publisher:  Simon and Schuster

SYNOPSIS:

From the creator of the award-winning ITV series Prime Suspect, starring Helen Mirren, comes the fascinating back story of the iconic DCI Jane Tennison.
In 1972 Jane Tennison, aged 22, leaves the Metropolitan Police Training Academy to be placed on probationary exercise in Hackney where criminality thrives. We witness her struggle to cope in a male-dominated, chauvinistic environment, learning fast to deal with shocking situations with no help or sympathy from her superiors. Then comes her involvement in her first murder case.

REVIEW:

If you’re a fan of Prime Suspect then the chance to get a prequel tale set when Jane Tennison joined the force in 1972. Its full of drama, has cracking character development and we get to see Jane at a time when being a woman in the force was difficult. All round it’s a very well written book, has great prose and of course a plotline that doesn’t let up with top notch action as well as solid policing within.

A top notch book to read and all round for me, a real treat. Magic.
