FANTASY REVIEW: The Legend of Eli Monpress 3: The Spirit Eater - Rachel Aaron

Release Date: 02/12/10

BOOK BLURB:

With the pressure on after his success in Gaol, Eli Monpress, professional thief and degenerate, decides it's time to lie low for a bit. Taking up residence in a tiny seaside village, Eli and his companions seize the chance for some fun and relaxation. Nico, however, is finding it a bit hard. Plagued by a demon's voice in her head and feeling powerless, she only sees herself as a burden. Everyone's holiday comes to an untimely close, though, when Pele arrives to beg Eli's help for finding her missing father. But there are larger plans afoot than even Eli can see, and the real danger, and the solution, may lie with one of his own and her forgotten past. If only Nico could remember whose side she's on.

REVIEW:

To be honest I’ve had a lot of fun with Rachel’s writing, its witty, it has some great twists and I absolutely love the complexities that she manages to add to the characters to give them a fully rounded appearance. Whilst this is the third (and sadly for now) final offering in this series/world to date, it’s definitely been one that’s been a real joy to read. Her descriptiveness is crisp; the characters a barrel load of fun to hang around and perhaps most importantly the type of people that you’d like to hang around the pub with.

All in a great series and one that I suspect will get the authors name known around a few circles as she is an author at the very least to watch and one that really has generated some light-hearted fantasy reading time of pure pleasure. Great stuff.

This sounds really good. I've burned out my usual series writers so I'm on the hunt for something new.

Hello, this is Rachel Aaron. I just wanted to pop in and make sure people know what there are five books planned in the series. Books 4 and 5 will come out next year. I am so glad you've enjoyed my works! Thank you very much for the kind words!
