URBAN FANTASY REVIEW: Sabina Kane 4: Silver-Tongued Devil - Jaye Wells

Release Date: 05/01/12

SYNOPSIS:

Life is looking up for Sabina Kane. The threat of war between the dark races seems to have passed, and her magic training is also progressing well - just like her relationship with the sexy mage Adam Lazarus. But as much as Sabina feels hopeful about the future, she doesn't quite trust that peace is possible ...Her suspicions are confirmed when a string of sadistic murders threaten to stall peace talks between the vampires and the mages. Sabina pitches in to find the killer, but this dark investigation soon has her questioning everyone she thought she could trust. And the closer she gets to the killer, the more Sabina begins to suspect this is one foe she may not be able to kill.

REVIEW:

I love Jaye’s writing and when the new book in the series lands, its always a split feeling, firstly because I get that warm glowing feeling of an old friend returning, but then the terror that the book simply won’t live up to what I’ve come to expect from Jaye as a writer and that she’ll have done something drastic to one of my character “friends.”

In this the fourth of the series (which is currently set at five books) all bets are off as she throws caution to the wind and is prepared to take no prisoners in a title that is high octane from the start which, or at least it did with me, leave you exhausted from the marathon reading session that you’ll have as you just can’t put it down. Add to this the usual blend of sass, top notch character development and throw in a huge helping of danger and it doesn’t even come close to explaining the sheer white knuckle ride that you’re in for.

All in a real joy and with the set up the way that it has gone, it’s going to make waiting for the last part even harder. Damn you Jaye. LOL
